Pantyliners

Uju is a posh babe! Right from our secondary school days, it was hard to miss that slender air-hostess-looking body of hers. She was not just beautiful, she was also the girl who had stuff, hence, there was always a good handful of us flocking around her back in the day. When it came to possessions, Uju was always the first to get them. The phone, the iPod, and high heels, Uju got them before the rest of us! Well, her taste for good things has not changed. She has an entire vlog for it right now and I had a good time watching her latest episode where she unboxed a vacation package her man sent over.

Apparently, Uju’s man, amongst other things, had gotten her pairs of really expensive underwear,  and right after the “awww”, baby girl said she was ordering a fresh supply of pantyliners so she never loses any of her undies…and yes, you are right. That was where my mind wandered off in thoughts. I really paid mind to it and figured that, expensive or not, no woman likes to lose her favorite underwear to stains, hence the reason why many of us use pantyliners. But again, are pantyliners helping us or hurting us? We need to consider both sides of the line this time.

Vaginal discharge is a very common and completely natural phenomenon and many women use pantyliners to protect their underwear from vaginal discharge and maintain a dry, fresh, and clean feeling throughout the day. I bet you know that they are basically thin, absorbent pads worn in the gusset of underwear to absorb vaginal discharge or light menstrual flow. But, did you know that pantyliners work best when changed every three to four hours?

Pantyliners have many upsides including providing everyday protection from urine leakage, vaginal discharge, and unexpected periods, to helping to keep moisture away especially for the last days of a period when there is still some light bleeding. However, it is not all upsides when we talk pantyliners. Pantyliners can rub against the labia, possibly triggering redness, irritation, and itching. The scented ones might contain chemicals that can irritate the sensitive tissues around the vagina too, and those are my major concerns when it comes to pantyliners and even our choice of underwear. I even talked about the underwear restricting air circulation around the privates in a blog post.

So, what is the way forward? Do we stop using pantyliners entirely? That’s not the solution! We just have to switch to breathable liners that don’t affect airflow and still keep our undies dry. Also, I will recommend we avoid the scented ones as well, you never know what Veejayjay would react to.

It’s that simple, actually! Do right by your veejayjay and still get to save your favorite panties from getting ruined. Don’’ mention darling, YOU ARE WELCOME!
